PRCommand & Conquer with Dina And Slack integration
A command and control bar that allows you to search your entire newsroom system for anything, in addition to short-cut running the NRCS with minimum use of a mouse. A metadata-driven planning system enables you to tailor and make workflows suited to your exact needs. Also - Dina and Slack are now integrated!
Bergen, August 20th, 2024: Those are two brand-new features Dina recently introduced to keep on excelling as the leading broadcast newsroom system in the market.
Of course, let’s not forget that Dina runs in the cloud without the need for software installation or on-prem hardware and can publish to any platform, including websites and all social media, in addition to its powerful built-in linear rundown.
Command and control bars
The Dina command bar is a search tool like no other you’ve seen in a newsroom system. It is made possible by Dina's full advantage of being a true cloud-native NRSC utilizing the full power of cloud computing.
Even semantic search is now available within Dina to make operating even friendlier.
With semantic search, you can find stuff in the newsroom system without being very specific with your keywords or search phrases. Semantic search tries to comprehend the meaning behind a query and provide more relevant results by considering the relationships between words, concepts, and entities.
"Our mission with Dina has always been to make it the best newsroom system possible for the users - the editorial staff. A reporter's job is to be a storyteller. But broadcast journalists have traditionally been burdened with having to be half tech wizards just to get their story published. With Dina, we want to mitigate that", says Haavard Myklebust, CEO of Fonn Group - the Norwegian tech company behind Dina and its sister product, assets management system Mimir.

Hit CTRL or CMD + k on your keyboard and the Dina command and control bar pops up. You can use free text search for anything in the newsroom system, and it will instantly find every story, instance, or asset matching the search word. Or contact info, research notes, spaces or pitches. And if the hits are overwhelming, you can sort by type or category. The key is a comprehensive metadata system, making magic happen under the hood without the user thinking twice.
You can also use the command and control bar to run Dina short-cut style with only the use of the keyboard. Several shortcuts are made available for the user to establish anything from new stories and instances to tweak things you normally would have to dive into the setting to change.

Then there’s Spaces.
Dina's short- and long-term built-in planning system Spaces is based on a state-of-the-art metadata system designed to enable the user to tailor workflows exactly to fit the newsroom. The thinking is to not force a set workflow upon users of the newsroom system but to let any newsroom establish exactly the workflow best suited. Metadata-based search filters are the key.
The easy-to-use admin metadata system in Dina gives users endless possibilities to create dashboards for planning and oversight. There are almost no limits regarding what kinds of dashboards can be created, giving the newsroom complete control over production in the short and long term - from a helicopter view of an entire news organization's total production all the way down the production chain to what individual reporters are working on. Everything is accessible at a glance and with the click of a mouse button.

And Slack is here!
Dina now has a Slack chat integration. This means you can start a chat in Dina, and then convert it to a Slack channel if needed.
This has several benefits:
- When someone is assigned to a story, they will get a Slack notification.
- From Slack, you can jump to the story in Dina with the click of a button.
- Videos, images, documents, and files uploaded to Slack, will automatically be uploaded to Dina and Mimir.
